Frijona Goes to Karazhan

My first Karazan run was fun and successful! We downed Attumen, Moroes, Maiden, and Opera (Oz). We only had one wipe on Maiden, and other than that we did fabulously, getting the four of them done, plus the gold carrying patrons in less than three hours. He's a screenshot of me standing over Moroes's corpse:

(This also gives you a chance to see what all my gear from the previous post looks like!)

The only problem I had was my inability to keep Roar feared without him killing me, which he did after the third fear ended. Next time I'll probably have someone get aggro off him before starting the fear so he goes to attack someone else while I cast fear. Other than that, I asked everyone for advice--but they all just said I did a really great job and asked me to come back to finish it on Saturday! I'm really looking forward to it, and I trust that if I needed to change tactics they'd tell me.

As for loots, most drops were, of course, plate, but I did get the Wicket Witch's Hat which looks pretty awesome, and my Violet Signet from reputation.

Coming Soon: My next post is going to be on the hideousness of shoulder armor. If you have any screenshots of characters in really ugly shoulder armor that doesn't match, please send them my way! Comment or email frijona @ live . com (no spaces).

You know you have a good Warlock blog to read when that Warlock is using Whiskers as a pet...I love that guy

Congratulations on your first successful run! I vaguely remember stepping into Karazhan for the first time (I have a horrible memory and don't even both asking me about pre-TBC raiding!), but I love taking newly christianed, minty fresh 70s into there. It's so much fun seeing their reactions!

If Roar's being a pest, consider asking your fellow raiders for help. The warlock isn't the only one that can fear him; consider your warriors (Intimidating Shout), your priests (Psychic Scream), and -- thanks to his status as a Beast -- your hunters (Scare Beast). A little bit of help can go a long way to help you stay alive through a fight!

Whiskers is mine (I don't know why it says "unknown" there), but you have no idea how often when on my alts I've tried to send my vanity pet out to attack! "Send in Dragonhawk...oh yeah." Then a few seconds later, "Out of mana, life tap! ...Oh wait."

I've found that having a timer mod and using a focus macro helps tremendously when you need to CC in raids. When you see the timer is just over halfway start looking for a break to refresh it, and you don't need to switch targets to do it. Also, if it breaks early you can use deathcoil to give you the 3 seconds you need to refresh Fear.

There are some useful macros for chain fearing at WoWWiki.

And .. after looking over there, I don't see the one for seducing, which was awesome.

As for Roar. I hate him. Hate. Loathe. Abhor. He gets feared into the door and is unfearable while in the stupid door and wall and by the time you can once again cast on him, he's eating your face.

Having someone else get initial aggro on him before fearbombing starts is a great thing though, and as soon as you possibly can, have a tank pick him up.

Wandered in from K's blog...
My personal seduce macro:

Seduces, makes a focus, and can change that seduce/focus with holding of the alt key.

#showtooltip Seduction
/focus [modifier:alt]
/petfollow [modifier:alt]
/cast [modifier:alt] Seduction
/focus [target=focus,noexists]; [target=focus,dead]
/clearfocus [target=focus,help]
/cast [pet:succubus,target=focus,exists,harm] Seduction;Seduction

A couple things that can help a great deal on Roar:

1) use curse of Shadows on him. It will help your fear last full duration.

2) he always runs towards one of the 2 doors, so, move yourself to the opposite door so you have more time to recast fear

3) have a /focus macro for casting fear (probably should get one for banish as well) if you don't already.

4) get the mod called dotimers if you don't have it... it works wonders in helping to watch when spells will run out :)

Lastly, remember its better that he's aggroing you as opposed to one of your healers while you're fearing. I always try to drop corruption on him to make sure he stays on me.
